David G. Asmus
Managing Principal

Managing Principal, David Asmus, brings more than 40 years of professional experience in business transactions counseling to his clients. His experience includes advising buyers, sellers, equity investors, and financial institutions on mergers, acquisitions, capital raise efforts, succession planning and related transitional matters. He was a partner in a Chicago-based national law firm where he represented business ownership interests and local, regional, and national banks as well as commercial finance groups regarding a wide range of financial and transactional matters. Following retirement from his equity partnership position, he joined a Scottsdale, Arizona based M&A advisory firm where he continued to advise businesses on buy and sell side matters before starting Grand Canyon Capital Consultants in 2021. Over the course of his professional career, he has handled numerous complex M&A transactions as well as workout, restructure and reorganization matters for lenders and business interests.

Education:

David received his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Ambrose University in Iowa.

Memberships:

David is a member of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors (“AMAA”), where he serves as Chair of the AMAA National Advisory Council. He served as Chair of the Conference/Events Committee of AMAA and chaired the semi-annual national conferences in 2020 and 2021.

David is an adjunct lecturer on “Legal Aspects of M&A Transactions” at Pepperdine University in California and University of Tampa in Florida.

From 2016-2019, David served on the Saint Ambrose University Alumni Association Board of Directors. In 2020, he was invited to become a member of the President’s Advisory Council at Saint Ambrose where he continues to serve his alma mater.

Grand Canyon’s Advisory/Consultancy Group is comprised of entrepreneurially driven professionals who have successfully run businesses within our focus sectors. We leverage their collective leadership skills and technical, operational, and commercial expertise to drive successful outcomes for and on behalf of our client companies/firms.

Dennis Cornelius: Dennis is the (retired) founder and managing principal of a Phoenix, Arizona-based investment banking firm where he advised business owners on buy/sell matters and closed numerous transactions on behalf of these clients over a 20-year period. More recently, Dennis has served as an advisor to CEOs and provided consulting services to various for-profit enterprises. He is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Carey School of Business with a degree in management and was a member of the board of BOK Financial (formerly Bank of Arizona) for approximately 10 years.

Walter Lemmermann: Walt is a Certified Pubic Accountant who launched Advantage Enterprises, Inc., a national service organization, serving as CEO/President for over 25 years. He is the managing member of Advantage Capital LLC and has served as managing director of the Lemmermann Trust since 2017. Walt consults with business owners and organizations to improve operational efficiencies, increase production and profitability and assists with senior management development. He is a graduate of Illinois College with a business administration degree.

Lisa Hamilton Ridley: Lisa is the founder and CEO of Compass Group Coaching & Consulting, LLC. As a business coach, Lisa works exclusively with entrepreneurial teams who are serious about growth and achieving their goals. Using a proven process and best practices-based methodology, Lisa partners with CEOs and their teams to clarify strategy then implement a system that accelerates achievement and gets measurable, sustainable results. In practical terms, this means increasing enterprise value by growing revenue and profits while solidifying a sustainable competitive strategy and creating a culture of accountability and engagement. A native Arizonan, Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Arizona. She is a certified Scaling Up coach and is credentialed by The Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara. She provides GCCC a great resource to clients searching for ways to grow, develop and achieve enhanced earnings, profitability and market value.

Lee Timlick: Lee is an experienced and driven business leader who has spent nearly 20 years in ownership and senior management positions. He has more recently targeted the acquisition of companies with the goal of enhancing profitability and providing strategic direction for the enterprise. Lee’s background in real estate investment and his leadership, management and operational experience make Lee a great advisor/consultant to the GCCC group.
